Know what I love about the web? There’s always something new, something exciting right around the corner. Right now my mind is reeling about the Kindle Fire, Google’s (potential) Dropbox killer Google Drive, and cloud services in general.
Not every new service will last. And to be sure, plenty of that which we talk about today will be old news this time next year (Google Wave, anyone?). Still, some will change the way we think and work.
LogMeIn is a single example. Who would have imagined only a few years ago that you could install a tool on your machine that would allow anyone with permission to effortlessly log in and provide support – in real time – from anywhere in the world. For my clients, it means they no longer have to wait for my next availability to receive the help the need. For me it means more time providing impactful solutions, and less time on the road.
Then there’s Google Places, which gives local businesses unprecedented exposure through its integration with the company’s search product. Now literally any business with an address has the opportunity to capture valuable exposure in Google’s search results. That’s exposure that converts to website traffic, that converts to interest, attention, and sales.
That’s why this is such an exciting time to work in the business of developing for the web. There is literally no upper bound to the reach of your marketing message, no limit to the success you can find if you meaningfully and authentically put yourself out there.
So have you made an honest-to-goodness attempt at making a website and marketing your services online? Or have you rested on your haunches waiting for next month, next year, next lifetime…
Whether you need to develop an application or just want a little more exposure on the Internet First Blog Media will become a partner in your success. But we can’t help you if you don’t call us.
Now’s the time. Will you let this be your “a-ha” moment?
